Israeli authorities have announced that the introduction of the new Electronic Travel Authorization System (Marom ETA-IL) has been delayed to January 2025.
Key Point:
As previously reported by BAL, the new regime was initially scheduled to be introduced on August 1. The regime is designed to streamline the entry process for visa-exempt nationals seeking short-term stays for purposes other than work, volunteering or study. If approved, the status will be valid for up to two years, allowing stays of up to 90 days per visit and allowing multiple entries.
Additional information: The online portal requires approval prior to travel but does not replace the discretion of border control officials. Applications must be submitted electronically at least 72 hours before the intended date of entry. The system is designed to provide immediate approval.
BAL Analysis: The government is introducing systems to modernize immigration procedures and strengthen security measures.
