Manama, July 21 (BNA): His Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy King of Saudi Arabia, received General Michael Kurilla, Commander of the U.S. Central Command, today at Sahir Palace.
His Highness underscored the strength of the long-standing relationship between Bahrain and the United States, which is based on a strategic partnership supported by the leaders of both countries.
The Vice King stressed the importance of building bilateral partnerships to achieve common goals and interests. In this regard, he appreciated the joint agreements and memoranda of understanding signed by the two countries, the latest of which is the Comprehensive Security, Integration and Prosperity Agreement, which strengthens cooperation and coordination in all fields, especially in the military and defense fields.
His Highness welcomed the Commander of the United States Central Command and the accompanying delegation to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Vice King underscored the important role the United States plays, together with its allies, in supporting efforts to enhance security, stability and peace in the region and the international community.
Various developments and issues of common concern were also discussed.
The meeting was also attended by National Security Adviser and Commander of the Royal Guard, Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Chief of Staff of the Bahrain Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Tayyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi.
