Gulf Air has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art MRO facility at Bahrain International Airport to enhance maintenance standards and support talent development in Bahrain’s aviation sector.
Gulf Air, the national airline of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced that it will build a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Bahrain International Airport (BIA). The project will be a significant and quality addition to Bahrain’s aviation industry.
This landmark facility underlines Gulf Air’s ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation. Importantly, the new MRO facility will align maintenance operations with the highest international standards and the latest technologies in aircraft engineering, automation, sustainability and reduced environmental footprint. The MRO complex will feature more than 20,000 square metres of temperature-controlled hangars, shops, workshops and dedicated parking to ensure the highest levels of reliability and responsiveness for its own aircraft as well as those of other customer operators.
The construction and operation of the new hangar will not only further strengthen Gulf Air Group’s in-house capabilities but also provide talent development opportunities, especially for specialist technicians, engineers and other aerospace professionals.
Gulf Air Group CEO Jeffrey Goh said in a statement: “This marks the start of another milestone for Bahrain’s aviation industry. This will be Gulf Air’s first dedicated MRO facility. This new facility represents a great opportunity to grow our aviation maintenance talent and capabilities, and will add a new landmark facility to Bahrain International Airport, operated by Bahrain Airports Company.”
Bahrain International Airport is located on Muharraq Island, bordering the capital Manama and the city of Al Muharraq, and serves as the base for the national airline Gulf Air. The airport is managed by Bahrain Airports Company.
