Memorandum of understanding signed to strengthen fire safety in Bahrain
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Ministry of Interior, Kingdom of Bahrain.
The agreement aims to improve fire safety and prevention measures in Bahrain.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at the NFPA Annual Conference and Exposition in Orlando, Florida, and was attended by key representatives from both organizations.
The partnership will leverage NFPA’s fire, electrical and life safety expertise and Bahrain Civil Defence’s local knowledge of firefighting and civil defence.
The collaboration will focus on hosting awareness forums, promoting education and sharing best practices to enhance public safety.
A collaborative effort to improve fire safety
“Building on NFPA’s Fire and Life Safety Ecosystem Framework, we are creating a roadmap for developing comprehensive training and certification programs, advancing fire research, and enhancing public education across the Kingdom,” said Jim Pauley, NFPA president and CEO.
He added that the initiative aims to promote fire safety and reduce risks through improved fire risk awareness and mitigation strategies.
Engineer Dana Kamal, NFPA’s MENA International Business Development Director, highlighted the importance of the partnership: “It is an honor to work with Bahrain Civil Defence in our shared mission to advance fire and life safety across the Kingdom.
“By leveraging NFPA’s fire and life safety ecosystem, we aim to empower the community and ensure Bahrain Civil Defence personnel are equipped with the highest standards of safety knowledge and skills to fulfill their responsibilities to public safety.”
Strategic alignment with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030
Commenting on the partnership, Brigadier General Ali Mohammed Al Qubaisi, Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence at Bahrain Civil Defence, said: “This initiative marks a strategic milestone for the Kingdom of Bahrain Civil Defence in implementing Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 by increasing the level of safety and fire prevention.”
“By signing this MoU, we become part of the NFPA ecosystem, enabling us to participate in strengthening this framework while learning, evolving and benefiting from the experience of the international community.”
He further mentioned the goal of equipping employees with international standards, exchanging experiences and creating a positive impact for all stakeholders involved.
