According to a recent report by Bahrain News Agency, Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residency Affairs (NPRA) at the Ministry of Interior, has launched the residence and work permit renewal service for foreigners outside Bahrain.
The development applies to foreign workers, registered workers and domestic workers working in the commercial and government sectors. The service will be provided in coordination with the Labour Market Supervision Authority (LMRA).
If you wish to renew your residence permit, this service can be obtained through the Bahrain National Portal. Work permits can be renewed through the Foreigner Management System or official LMRA channels.
The NPRA Undersecretary said development and modernization is being carried out in partnership with government and private entities and welcomed collaboration with LMRA to provide a number of facilities.
Services to assist you in renewing your work and residence permits before they expire if you are outside Bahrain
Meanwhile, LMRA CEO Nibras Mohammed Talib said the service would allow employers to renew their employees’ work permits outside Saudi Arabia online, but the renewal process must be done before its expiry.
He noted that the measure comes within the framework of accelerating the pace of work and meeting the needs of business owners and investors for foreign workers.
Employers can either visit any of the LMRA-approved banks to complete the renewal procedures and pay the prescribed fees, or they can renew their work permits through the Foreign Worker Management System by selecting the duration of the work permit and completing the payment procedures.

The licences were awarded to Citi, Eagle Hills Diyar, Infracorp, Saudi Telecommunications Company (stc) and Whampoa Group. The country’s investment arm, the Economic Development Board (EDB), said companies eligible to receive golden licences have created more than 500 local jobs in Bahrain in its first year or committed to investing more than $50 million, contributing to strengthening the country’s overall development.
