Manama, July 5 (BNA): Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), stated that the LMRA is keen to develop all regulations that contribute to improving the working environment and protecting the rights of workers.
Al Alawi made the remarks during a remote meeting with Bangladesh Ambassador to Bahrain Dr Mohammed Nazrul Islam, during which he discussed the situation of expatriate Bangladeshi workers in Bahrain and stressed the Kingdom’s efforts to regulate the labour market by raising awareness among foreign workers about the systems and laws in place in Bahrain, as well as the importance of cooperation with embassies of labour-exporting countries.
The LMRA chief reviewed the projects and initiatives launched by the LMRA, particularly the Wage Protection Scheme under which private sector employers are obliged to pay salaries of their employees through licensed financial institutions and banks.
He argued that the new system is one of the efforts toward improving the working environment and is expected to contribute to reducing wage-related labor issues.
The envoy praised Bahrain’s regulatory and legislative environment, which seeks to protect all workers and ensure fairness for them, and commended the Wage Protection Scheme for safeguarding workers’ rights and ensuring that monthly salaries are paid on time.
He also praised the LMRA’s role in raising awareness among workers and its keenness to inform them about the labour market system, as well as their legal status, rights and obligations upon their arrival in the Kingdom.
He assured that the Bangladesh Embassy is always supporting Bahrain in its labour-related endeavours.
