Paris, July 28 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain will begin its participation in the Paris Olympic Games tomorrow with the backstroke qualifying rounds.
Swimmer Amani Al Obaidli will compete in the 100m backstroke heats at 11am (12pm BST) at the Paris La Défense Arena.
Al Obaidulli made his international debut at the 2023 Arab Games in Algeria and quickly established himself as a formidable competitor, winning silver medals in both the 100m backstroke (1:05.06) and 50m backstroke (29.64) at the Arab Games. He further added bronze medals in the 200m backstroke (2:25.16) and 50m freestyle (26.79) at the Gulf Youth Games in the UAE last April.
In her first Olympic Games, Amani will be aiming to improve on her personal best of 1 minute 4.76 seconds, set at the Hancock Championships in Australia.
Amani said she is gearing up for the 100m backstroke heats and wants to showcase her talents on the Olympic stage.
Bahrain Swimming Association President Mohamed Mujibel expressed pride that the national team will be participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, stressing the importance of Bahrain’s participation in this prestigious global sporting event.
