Founded in 1968 by the late Jimmy Choo Ping, CPH Travel has pioneered what is known in the industry today as eco-tourism and cultural tourism, developing and producing tours that allow guests to experience first-hand the traditional lifestyles of local people.
Now with third-generation leader Oscar Chew at the helm, MICE has become forefront for the Kuching-based DMC, working closely with state convention and visitor authority Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) and local partners to attract more incentive trips and convention groups to Sarawak.
CPH Travel is one of the largest DMCs in Sarawak, boasting a strong manpower and fleet of its own buses and boats, and has catered events such as the World Islamic Economic Forum 2017, the 2018 Better Air Quality Conference, the 2018 International Marine Conservation Conference and the 2023 World Innovation and Technology Conference.
I’m an outdoorsy person and I love exploring my own backyard in Sarawak. I’m lucky to be able to go on adventures, create products and find motivation in this industry through these experiences.
Oscar Chu, Managing Director of CPH Travel
Choo explains his company’s strategy: “We have partnered with BESarawak to develop new products and services that focus on long-term legacy impact. Through these impacts, we aim to extend the value of business events and improve overall ROI. One of the initiatives we have created in collaboration with BESarawak is the Bookshare programme.”
He added: “We want to expand our CSR programme and strengthen the legacy of conferences and associations visiting Sarawak. As a DMC, we are looking at ways to collaborate with other associations to create a lasting impact.”
