Two world record holders in the 100m freestyle start
2024 Paris Summer Olympics The line-ups for the women’s and men’s 4x100m freestyle relay finals have been announced and there aren’t many surprises. We wrote about the intriguing decision the U.S. had to make about which qualifiers would advance to the finals, and now we know the answer: Simone Manuel and Caleb Dressel will anchor the U.S. relay tonight. The US economy Kamala Harris inherited and how she will leverage it
CNN — President Joe Biden arrived at the White House in 2021 at a time of turmoil and uncertainty across a nation reeling from the pandemic, and in his inaugural address, Biden promoted unity and pledged to leave the nation “stronger, more prosperous and better prepared for the future.” But as Biden has acknowledged throughout his presidency, there is more work to be done. Q2 Economic Growth Surprises; Small-Caps Play Catch-Up; But Incoming Data Imply Underlying Economic Softness
On Thursday (July 25th), the initial Q2 GDP estimate, at 2.8% (annual rate) was, to say the least, quite a surprise. The consensus view was +2.0%, and the +2.8% growth rate doubled Q1’s 1.4%. Of the 2.8%, unwanted inventory accumulation accounted for +0.8 percentage points, and government spending growth added another +0.5 percentage points. Another positive for GDP was a drawdown in the savings rate (to 3.5% in Q2…
