Manama, July 30 (BNA): Bahrain Football Association (BFA) President Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has stated his country’s full support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Sheikh Ali stressed that Saudi Arabia has all the necessary qualities to successfully host the world’s largest football event. He highlighted the strong ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, which reflect the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as the vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He noted that Saudi Arabia’s efforts to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup are in line with the vision of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and will mark a milestone in the country’s sports development.
Sheikh Ali stressed that Bahrain’s support for the Saudi Arabian bid is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), and is also in line with the initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice-Chairman of SCYS, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
He called on all associations to support Saudi Arabia’s bid, saying the support would mark a major step forward for Saudi football at both the Asian and international levels. He praised the efforts of those leading the Saudi bid, including Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, minister of sports and chairman of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and Yasser Al-Misehar, president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.
Sheikh Ali reiterated Bahrain’s belief in the Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s important role in the development of Asian and international football. He said he was confident that Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 2034 FIFA World Cup would be a success, enhancing the country’s standing on the global stage and benefiting sport around the world.
