The Urban Planning and Development Authority detailed land use in each of the Kingdom’s provinces in a comprehensive report published on its official website.
According to the latest data, agricultural area accounts for 3.02 percent of Bahrain’s total land area, while investment area accounts for 3.03 percent.
Industrial zones occupy 4.37% of the land area, commercial areas only 0.41%. Public services and infrastructure occupy 8.89% of the Kingdom’s territory, while Ministry of Housing projects account for 3.90%.
Large-scale developments, classified as special project areas, account for 33.14% of Bahrain’s land use.
Green belt areas account for 0.34%, protected areas 23.35%, archaeological sites 0.031%, recreational and park areas 2.65%, airport land 2.04%, unplanned or undeveloped areas total 1.41%, and other areas 1.22%.
This comprehensive land use data sheds light on Bahrain’s urban development priorities and the allocation of limited land resources.
This is expected to guide future planning efforts aimed at managing growth and ensuring sustainable use of the Kingdom’s territory.
