The Bahrain Ministry of Labour hosted yesterday, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the 38th annual ceremony to recognise exemplary employees and outstanding companies in the private sector.
The prestigious event recognised outstanding national talents, including human resources professionals from various economic sectors, business leaders and prominent companies in the Kingdom’s labour market.
The ceremony was attended by ministers, council members, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Samir Abdullah Nass, as well as representatives of federations and trade unions and key figures from the commercial, economic and social sectors.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Labor Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan stressed that the ceremony aims to highlight and celebrate outstanding national capabilities in order to create more opportunities, increase employability for graduates and improve their education and training experience.
Minister Humaidan also praised the continued cooperation between governments, employers and employees, highlighting joint efforts to turn challenges into opportunities and strengthen the principle of social dialogue.
He specifically mentioned the Labour Fund’s (Tamkeen) recently launched program to target 50,000 Bahrainis annually, highlighting its role in increasing employment and career development opportunities in the private sector.
Shaima Syed Baghel Hassan spoke on behalf of the awardees and expressed her gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad for his constant support to the country’s workforce and institutions in nation building.
The ceremony concluded with Minister Humaidan and Sheikh Khalifa presenting certificates of appreciation and commemorative plaques to distinguished individuals and organisations.
The awardees included pioneers, agencies working with the Ministry of Labour to attract and employ nationals, establishments training job seekers under the “Foras” (Opportunities) programme, agencies ensuring training and employment for job seekers, small business owners, prominent directors, advocates for determined people, workers in the unorganised economy and experts in sectors such as oil and gas, manufacturing, transport, communications, banking, finance, insurance, contracting, trade, tourism and emerging social activities.
