Bahraini companies sign 20 agreements with global and regional partners at GITEX 2023 Created: 08:22 PM Last Updated: 08:22 PM Views: 222 Manama, Nov 2 (BNA): Bahraini companies at the Kingdom of Bahrain Pavilion at GITEX 2023 concluded their successful participation after receiving a fantastic welcome and participation during the event, which led to the signing of 20 partnership agreements and memorandums of understanding between Bahraini companies and various regional and international organisations.

The Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion, sponsored by the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) in collaboration with the Economic Development Board (EDB), Bahrain Export Board and ila Bank, recorded unprecedented visitor numbers at the world expo. Held annually in Dubai, GITEX brings together cutting-edge technology companies, experts and decision-makers, as well as technology enthusiasts from around the world.

Tamkeen’s chief growth officer, Khalid Albayat, praised the quality of Bahraini companies and highlighted the country’s regional leading position in information and communications technology (ICT) and the digital economy.

He said: “Tamkeen’s consistent sponsorship of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion, now in its ninth year, remains a top priority. We aim to promote the growth of Bahrain’s entrepreneurship and innovation system and boost key economic sectors, including ICT. Our focus is to develop national capacities and equip Bahrainis with specialized technical skills in various pioneering digital fields. This will further create quality employment opportunities, foster career development, promote entrepreneurship and encourage the launch and expansion of pioneering technology projects both locally and internationally, thus strengthening our contribution to the country’s economic landscape.”

Musab Abdullah, Executive Director, ICT Business Development, Bahrain EDB, said: “Bahrain’s progressive regulatory government, competitive operating costs and ease of doing business have established it as a destination of choice for companies seeking highly skilled, future-focused talent in the areas of operational data management, superior customer service, software development and service delivery. This leading exhibition provides an excellent opportunity to explore advanced ICT projects from around the world and meet leading companies in the sector to showcase Bahrain’s unique value proposition.”

Fatima Aziz Rostam, Executive Director of Operations at Export Bahrain, said: “Our third participation in GITEX underlines our commitment to showcasing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s significant investments in local companies and highlighting its technological capabilities and entrepreneurial spirit. The platform not only serves as a vehicle to promote our products and services, but also fosters valuable connections with new markets, fosters an export culture and encourages strong economic growth, especially in the innovative technology sector.”

Abdullah Abu Idrees, Head of Marketing & Acquisitions at ila Bank, added: “We are honoured to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain at GITEX Global, which brought together some of the world’s most innovative companies to explore the latest technology and artificial intelligence trends. This platform allowed us to share the success story of our innovative cloud-based, digital and mobile-only ila Bank internationally and establish connections with the best technology providers to further push the boundaries of digital innovation. We would like to thank Bahrain’s labour fund Tamkeen for this fantastic opportunity and the organisers of GITX Global for putting on such a fantastic world-class event.”

The GITEX Global Exhibition pavilion featured 12 Bahraini SMEs as well as 20 start-ups that took part in the Expand North Star Exhibition, an integral part of the GITEX Global Week activities. Notably, the Expand North Star Exhibition, which was held separately from GITEX for the first time, attracted over 800 companies from over 100 countries around the world.

Three Bahraini startups advanced to the semi-finals of the Supernova Challenge, with the emerging Bahraini application “Unipal” winning second place. Unipal founder Ali Al-Alawi said he was proud to represent Bahrain at this global competition, emphasizing that it provided him with valuable experience and networking opportunities with experienced professionals in the technology field. These opportunities will improve user experience and push the application to new heights.
