Manama, July 29 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, underscored the outstanding and comprehensive efforts the Kingdom is making to protect human rights and combat human trafficking, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of the government led by His Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
In a statement marking World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, under the theme “No Child Left Behind in the Fight Against Trafficking”, the Minister highlighted Bahrain’s achievements in child rights and anti-trafficking efforts.
These efforts have led to the establishment of a comprehensive system for child protection and human dignity, supported by progressive legislation such as Law No. 4 of 2021 promulgating the Restorative Justice Law and Protection from Abuse, the Children’s Law (37), and Law No. 1 of 2008 on Combating Trafficking in Persons, in line with the Government’s Programme and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026).
Dr. Al Zayani stressed that this global event coincides with Bahrain’s success in maintaining its top position in combating trafficking, as recorded in the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report.
He said the ranking serves as international validation of the success of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons (NCCTIP), which is supported by Minister of Interior General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and Minister of Labor and Chairman of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan.
Dr. Al Zayani stressed that Bahrain will continue to make progress in human rights and the elimination of trafficking in persons through cooperation between legislative, executive and judicial authorities, media, civil society and international organizations.
This cooperation is in line with international human rights agreements and focuses on protecting vulnerable groups from exploitation and ensuring a safe, just and dignified future for all, he noted.
