Manama, July 27 (BNA): Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, member of the Bahrain Olympic Council and chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Committee, expressed pride in the excellent representation of women’s sports at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Eight of the 14 athletes representing the Kingdom at the Olympics are women, marking the first time that Bahrain will have an equal number of male and female participants.
Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa said the selection is a result of the hard work of the Olympic Committee, led by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to support women’s sports at all levels, adding that these efforts have led to great success, notably winning four Olympic medals, including two gold and two silver, all of which were won by women. She praised the support and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Esa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Olympic Committee and Head of the Delegation.
“I am honoured and proud of Team Bahrain for having qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This moment marks the culmination of years of hard work, training and dedication, and I am confident that you will all give your best at this global sporting event,” said Shaikha Hessa.
She noted that the Paris Olympics was not only an opportunity to compete in sports but also to represent Bahrain in the best possible way.
Participating in this world forum is an achievement in itself, she said, and wished all the athletes success.
