TEHRAN – Since the first day of this Persian calendar year, which began on March 20, the number of visitors to the tourist attraction of Koghir-ye Boyerahmad has reached about 706,000, local officials said.
“The number of overnight stays in hotels and similar facilities in the province has also reached 166,000 so far this year,” Farshid Karami told Iran News Agency on Saturday, adding that for the time being, 2,500 beds have been prepared to accommodate tourists in Koghiryeh Boyerahmad province.
Experts believe that Koghilye Boyerahmad is still a little-known tourist destination despite its rich historical, cultural and natural attractions.
In terms of registered visitor numbers to tourist sites in the province, tourism officials highlighted that natural wonders topped the rankings with around 380,000 visitors, followed by historical sites with 152,000 and pilgrimage sites with around 143,000 visitors, they added.
Karami said visits to man-made tourist sites in the state also reached 13,000 in four months.
Koghirye Boyerahmad Governorate is a region renowned for its natural beauty, cultural heritage and historical significance, boasting 280 natural sites, 300 revered shrines and over 770 historical sites inscribed on the National Heritage List.
The province is located in southwestern Iran and covers an area of approximately 16,000 square kilometers.
The province’s terrain is predominantly mountainous, with the Zagros Mountains running through it, giving rise to numerous natural attractions including lush valleys, diverse flora and fauna, waterfalls, springs and forests.
