Manama, July 27 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the Khalid bin Hamad Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship 2024 was held at Khalifa Sports City.
The event was organised by the MMA Federation under the supervision of the Bahrain Martial Arts Council and was attended by His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of the General Sports Authority and Chairman of the Bahrain Martial Arts Council.
The tournament was also attended by dignitaries such as Sheikh Salman’s sons, Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, as well as General Sports Authority (GSA) CEO Dr. Abdulrahman Askar and International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) president Kerris Brown.
Sheikh Salman thanked Sheikh Khalid for his patronage and highlighted the huge impact it has had on the development and achievements of mixed martial arts in Bahrain, stressing that the Bahrain Martial Arts Council is committed to the development of all mixed martial arts by supporting national federations and implementing plans to ensure their continued success.
Sheikh Salman praised the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF), led by President Mohamed Qambar, for its contribution to developing the sport and creating a competitive national team, noting the high participation rate and impressive performances in the championships.
At the end of the championship, Sheikh Salman crowned the winners, praised the sponsors and wished the remaining participants success in future competitions.
