On July 19, Deputy Secretary Wallander met with National Security Advisor Nasser. The two confirmed their support for deepening the bilateral defense partnership and shared views on key regional security issues, including the destabilizing actions of Iran and its regional proxies, including the Houthis. The U.S. delegation thanked Bahrain for its gracious hosting of NAVCENT and for its support of U.S.-led efforts to ensure freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the Red Sea.
During the meeting, the delegations discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral security relations by improving information-sharing mechanisms and continuing to develop Bahrain’s capabilities through security assistance and capacity-building activities.
